Air Assault – PAX East 2018

It is that time of year again! PAX East is just around the corner and we are getting ready to #StackTFUp in a big way! We invite you to swing by our booth, #10016 and say hello. You will be able to participate in our ever popular push-up contest for your chance to enter our daily raffles, and get a shot at some great swag!

Of course, not only will we have our booth at the convention, we are also bringing out a couple of great Veterans as part of our Air Assault program, where we fly disabled and deserving veterans to awesome gamer and geek culture events, just like PAX East in Boston. Keep reading below to learn about the Veterans joining us this year.

I was in the Army as an Infantryman from April 2009 through February 2013. Deployed once to Afghanistan where I was injured in an IED attack. Gaming had always been something I’ve done since I was a child, but during my time in Germany after my injury, I found an Xbox 360 and a copy of Halo 3.

I practically locked myself in that room for the week I was there. After coming back to Ft. Knox all I did with my free time was play video games, and pretty much that is what I spend my free time now doing as well.

I joined the army straight out of high school in 2012 as a combat engineer. My first duty station after basic training was Fort Bliss, Texas where I attended several schools including Air Assault School and was eventually promoted to the rank of Sergeant. In 2015, I transferred to Grafenwoehr, Germany to a sapper unit. I served there until my accident on February 28, 2017, and was then transferred to a medical unit in Fort Sam Houston, Texas where I currently reside.

Right now I’m pursuing an IT certification and will soon start an internship with a DOD agency of whom which I may continue employment with. Gaming has always been a big part of my life even before the military but it makes it so much easier to stay in touch and keep up with friends that have ended their service, or stationed abroad. Because of gaming, my military brothers are never further away than my TV.

Stack Up is honored to be able to give back to these great Veterans through our Air Assault program! We look forward to sharing all the fun and excitement of PAX East with you after the con in our post-convention coverage, so stand by for more and follow us on Twitter for live updates throughout the convention next week!
