Attack On Titan 2 – On Track for March 2018 Release

On a recent stream of their newly announced game, Koei Tecmo and W-Force have announced a targeted release window for the sequel to their 2016 action game hit, Attack On Titan. Attack On Titan 2 will be targeting a March 2018 release date for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Worth noting The PlayStation Vita version will not release in the United States and will remain in Japan for the time being.

On the stream, Koei Tecmo revealed new details about the game, including the story, setting, and the kind of Titans the players will face. The game will be based on the events that occur during Season 2 of the famed anime series, Attack On Titan 2. Additionally,  players will now have access to a character creations system, a feature that was not in place during the first game. Players will be able to customize their very own titan-slayer for use in battle against the Titans, customizing their look, gender, and other attributes.

Attack On Titan 2

Attack on Titan 2 is the sequel to the video game, Attack On Titan, developed by W-Force and published by Koei Tecmo. Originally based on the on the manga by Hajime Isayama, Attack On Titan follows a desperate story of humanity on the brink of extinction in an alternate Earth.

Massive beings, known as Titans, have descended from the heavens down upon the humans, destroying without remorse and indiscriminately devouring any human they come across.  Their last line of defense lies within the brave young souls of the Scout Regiment, an elite group of front-line soldiers dedicated to fighting back against the Titans and taking back their land.

It is a story of camaraderie, friendship, courage under fire, conspiracy, dark secrets, and the sheer rage that lies within the human heart. An anime of the same name, created by Production I.G, was first released in Japan in 2009, before making its way to the United States in 2013, airing on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim block. The anime quickly became a huge international sensation, sparking the release of a season two this past spring.

The original video game was released in 2015 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.  W-Force adapted their infamous Warriors-style level of combat into the unique rappeling-focused combat of the anime. Players were able to swing around buildings and through thick urban zones, maneuvering themselves to successfully strike against the Titans. As in the anime, soldiers maneuver around the dangerous Titans, dodging fists and teeth, in order to be able to strike the nape with razor-sharp swords. It is only in successfully slicing through the nape can the Titan be taken down.  The game was criticized for having a strong presentation and engaging gameplay, but being rather repetitive towards the end.

Look for Attack On Titan 2 in March 2018.
