Beer is a libation as old as time itself. Through every passage of human history, beer is there. Plato, The Egyptians, the sailors of the Mayflower, and many more arbiters of history can recount the process, taste, and flavor of beer. Thomas Jefferson, known as the Founding Father of the United States Navy, is known to have once said, "Beer, if drunk in moderation, softens the temper, cheers the spirit, and promotes health." Beer is there for the best of times and the roughest of times. Aroch Digital and Sold Out Games Publishing are celebrating Beer with the newly announced game, Brewmaster, a simulation game that makes the player the craftsman of beer.
The game's announcement comes from The PlayStation Blog, with marketing and communications manager Jemima Crow of Auroch Digital ushering in the news and the type of game it will be. Brewmaster puts players in charge of their very own beer crafting process, and as the beer, players have full control over the science of beer crafting and brewing, from the look of beer to the taste of beer. IPA, Ale, summer flavors, or rich and thick, players can craft any beer they wish.
Beer brewing is exciting but far different than being a barista in a coffee shop. Brewmaster is a simulation game, taking into account real-life scientific models and instrumentation. Beer crafting is a science that boils down to the laws of chemistry. Heat, fermentation, properly using a hydrometer are just some of the key elements in Brewmaster. Brewmaster puts players into the sophisticated world of craft brewing. Fortunately, beer crafting is not rocket science, and Auroch Digital is crafting an experience perfect for die-hard beer enthusiasts and players completely unfamiliar with the brewing process.
As the team is based out of Bristol, UK, they have become familiar with the local beer crafting scene and its science. Janine elaborates on the core of Brewmaster, "This is the kind of game even non-beer drinkers will enjoy. Brewmaster is about the process, not just the end result. Beer brewing is a fascinating subject, and there’s so much that goes into making great beer. The real chemistry is quite nerdy, but we really wanted to focus on making our game accessible to everyone, so while the simulation under the hood is complex, the way you interact with it is easily understandable, and as you play the game, you’ll gradually be taught the more detailed elements of brewing. "
As exciting as Brewmaster is shaping to be, it's a long way to happy hour. Brewmaster is in its earliest conceptual phases and is not slated for launch until 2022. Additionally, there is no method available to drink the beer that is crafted in Brewmaster. Despite this, Brewmaster is aiming for launch on all consoles and pc, including Nintendo Switch. Brewmaster joins a small league of simulators and cozy games. Titles like Coffee Talk, Calico, and Space Rover Simulator all focus on the process and not the end result, making the gameplay experience richer and more fulfilling. It'll be sometime before the tap flows for Brewmaster, but it's hard to resist the excitement for this game.
Brewmaster will launch in 2022. Players can sign up on the Auroch Digital website for more updates.
