Vehicular mayhem heads to the next generation. Wreckfest has been smashing barriers and making waves since it debuted in late 2019. The racing and car slamming game has been received remarkably well by players, including here at Stack Up, where our review calls it "a bang-up job, providing a large abundance of thrills and excitement, right from the start." Evolve PR announced today Wreckfest is heading its way to PlayStation 5 this summer, with a bevy of new enhancements, complimented by the next-gen engine that is the PS5.
The news comes via press release from Terminals.Io, the key distribution and PR platform from Canada-based Evolve PR. Wreckfest has enjoyed a solid time on last-gen consoles, but it is ready for a new engine to be placed under the hood. Wreckfest is coming to PlayStation 5 this summer, and with it, new details and processes bring even more immersion and destructibility to the gameplay experience. Wreckfest's debut on PlayStation 5 will bring a variety of visual changes, such as detailed, dynamic dirt on vehicles, God Rays, and high-resolution foliage. Additionally, improved shadows, particles, and environmental lighting will be featured, along with new visual effects for skid marks and much faster loading times. Most importantly, Wreckfest on PS5 will feature the much-revered haptic feedback on PlayStation 5 controllers. Wreckfest will debut both digitally and physically in June, but those who already own Wreckfest can upgrade their copy of Wreckfest to the PS5 for just $9.99.
Wreckfest is one of the best racing games on the market today and perhaps the only one focusing on old-fashioned vehicular combat. Racing around to the tune of a favorite Spotify playlist is incredibly satisfying but combine a good soundtrack to breathtaking collision physics and the sweet sound of metal crunching creates a stupendously euphoric sensation that is unlike any other game available. It's intense, action-packed, adrenaline-pumping, and it keeps players wanting more. The enhancements on PS5 sound amazing, and while some may be put off by the $9.99 price tag of the upgrade, the haptic feedback of the PS5 controller will undoubtedly make it all worth it. Wreckfest uses a strong physic engine to evoke the sensation of driving a roaring muscle car on the tarmac and the dirt, slamming their metal against another vehicle, and witnessing a car suffer extreme damage. In Wreckfest, sustained damage affects the car's performance, from driving to steering. With the haptic feedback, the vibrations and input sensations will feel tremendous and provide an almost entirely new experience for players.
