It’s a good time to be a Mercenary. No rules, no mercy, cutting-edge weapons, and an entire fortune awaits you when you embark on the life of a Mercenary. When the evil CLAW army invades and occupies the critically important Mandragora island, you know you’re in for a good day, filled with bad guys, explosions, and more money than you know what to spend it on. This is Mercenary Kings: Reloaded Edition, and enhanced edition of the original game that features new levels and features.
The original Mercenary Kings was released in the Spring of 2014 by Montreal-based Tribute Games. Funded on Kickstarter, the game was praised for its incredible hyper pixelated style, with illustrations and animations reminiscent of SNK and NEo-Geo games. Mercenary Kings plays as a side-scrolling action shooter, where players can access a variety of weapons, or craft their very own.
Players will be going against a highly-trained and well-equipped army, complete with choppers, tanks, and armored mechs. For those that have fond memories of Neo-Geo’s Metal Slug trilogy, they will feel right at home. The game is tough, but if players are determined, and have another player by their side, they will succeed.
For those that may have missed out, Mercenary Kings is receiving a new, enhanced version of the game in the form of Mercenary Kings: Reloaded Edition. The new version will feature a bevy of refinements and enhancements.
These enhancements involve redesigns and expansions to the original game. The Reloaded Edition begins with general gameplay adjustments, such as stronger grenades, being able to purchase materials, a better display, and much more. The Reloaded Edition continues with the introduction of two new playable characters: Figg and C-Zar.
Figg is an Olympic trained soldier, that can jump higher than other mercenaries and fiercely attack the enemy. C-Zar is a robotic companion, built from the ground up to fight alongside the mercenaries with his special feet thrusters.
Additionally, a multitude of brand-new weapons and knives can now be crafted by players. Players are free to create any weapon that suits them best, so long as it absolutely murders the enemy. Finally, a completely new mission will be added, the Steel Soldier Mission, as players can take to the cockpits of combat mechs and bring real punishment to the enemy.
With all this and so much more, Mercenary Kings: Reloaded Edition is shaping to be a fantastic retro-action experience for all players. Most notable is this release is also headed to the PlayStation Vita and the Nintendo Switch. Mercenary Kings: Reloaded Edition is out now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation Vita,
