Rockstar’s been stirring the rumor mill pot throughout the weekend. A red RockStar Games logo and a silhouetted display of a group of westerners was all we had to go on. For most, it was obvious, and today, the answer’s clear. Red Dead Redemption 2 *is happening*. The long-awaited sequel is slated to release in the fall of next year on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. No word on a PC release, though I wouldn’t hold your breath on it.
Developed by the creators of Grand Theft Auto V and Red Dead Redemption, Red Dead Redemption 2 is an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland. The game’s vast and atmospheric world will also provide the foundation for a brand new online multiplayer experience.
Outside of the reveal image, the announcement’s a little vague. The game has a trailer dropping this Thursday, and unless it’s akin to modern cinematic teaser trailers in its ambiguity, we should get a sense of what’s to come. In any case, Red Dead Redemption was one of the standout titles of the last decade of video games, and a sequel should have plenty of people excited.
