REVERSE UNBOXING, Ep 3: Brendan, San Diego VA Hospital
A small, yet still powerful supply crate, code named SILVER BULLET, is on its way to a Veterans Affairs (VA) hospital in San Diego!
Stack-Up received a request for support from sister military charity, the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, and their liasion, Steven Padilla. He knew of a trooper who was in a rough spot and could use some help, so he wrote some details to our Stacks coordinator:
The recipient would be Brendan. He’s served in the Army from 2002-2007 mostly down at Bragg. He was a 13B (artilleryman), and deployed for OIF (Operation Iraqi Freedom) operations in 2006 (and a rotation in Korea). His service is confirmed by the VA, and discharge status appears to be Honorable. He was born in San Diego, but moved to New York City after he left Bragg. In 2014, Brendan was diagnosed with and treated for Hodgkins Lymphoma. The cancer was put into remission, but some poor follow up care by the VA lead to the cancer returning. He tried to get some holistic care out of the country, but as things worsened, he returned to San Diego for treatment from the VA again. He is expected to start chemo again this week, and some further care options are being discussed that might have him being treated at the University of California ”“ San Diego or even up in the Pacific Northwest. Turns out he is a big gamer, especially first person shooters. As such, I’m requesting the following; a portable system (3DS or Vita) with 2-3 games.
As everything was paid for out of pocket (we don’t have a lot of portable systems laying around), we want to thank both Ubisoft and Humble Bundle and their generous donations to help make this happen. The grand total of this supply crate according to Amazon comes out to $318 , and couldn’t have happened without all these great folks providing support to us!
Too easy! Let’s get on with the reverse unboxing video, and best part? Intro segment is now in high definition!
If you’d like to make a donation that gets highlighted in one of our videos, Stack-Up takes lightly used PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One games and gear as well as cash donations. Please help us help these vets out here:
