Image and Form Games have had a pretty stellar year, with the release of SteamWorld Dig 2 on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PC. To finish off the year of 2017, the team behind SteamWorld Dig has released SteamWorld Heist: Ultimate Edition digitally for the Nintendo Switch.
For those unfamiliar, SteamWorld Heist is a side-scrolling turn-based strategy video game set in a unique universe, where humans have been long gone and robots, once exclusively programmed for mining, have now created their own civilization. Robots in SteamWorld come in all shapes, sizes, and types, from steam-powered robots to diesel-powered robots.
In SteamWorld Heist, you are the Captain Piper Faraday, taking command of your own mercenary team. Traveling across the solar system, you will take on various criminal robots, rogue military machines, and uncover a mysterious weapon that could bring about the end of robot-kind.
The game plays as a tactical, turn-based video game, with players navigating enemy ships, searching rooms for loot, and engaging with enemies in turn-based combat. The combat has the hook of X-COM, with players needing wise placement and good aim to successfully defeat their foes. I played SteamWorld Heist last year and wrote a full review that you can read HERE.
The SteamWorld Heist: Ultimate Collection comes with all previously released Downloadable Content, new missions, and a fine selection of hats to wear, as wearing hats plays a big part of the game. SteamWorld Heist: Ultimate Edition is now available on the Nintendo eShop. SteamWorld Heist is also available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Wii U, and the Nintendo 3DS.
Finally, independent music group Steam Powered Giraffe, have put their talents into the game’s soundtrack. It can be heard below.
