In the early life of the PlayStation 4, many different independent games managed to make their way to the PlayStaiton Network. Among them was a game that arrived just as sneaky as the nature of its protagonist. This small goblin, who would sneak around heavily fortified castles, would quickly earn the nickname “Assassin’s Green.” This game was known as Styx: Master of Shadows, a steal-action game set within a fantasy realm, and had players using verticality to successfully outwit, outsmart, and dispatch armed soldiers.
The game earned a solid reputation amongst the other competitors of the stealth action. Coming off of this success, Focus Home Interactive is bringing back the “Assassin Green” himself, Styx, is returning for a new game, Styx: Shards Of Darkness.
In the fantasy world of Styx, the crystals, known as Quartz, are absolutely everything. They are keepers of great power, with many dying to secure their precious resources, as well as defend it. For our goblin, Styx his chief objective is to obtain these Quartz crystals, which are heavily guarded by dwarves, elves, and other terrors.
Utilizing magic, deadly close-range weapons, and your nimbleness as a goblin, you will navigate the vividly imagined fantasy world and take the Quartz for your own. How you play is entirely up to you. You may use your abilities to kill every last enemy or sneak into territory unnoticed and out-of-sight.
Compared to the sequel, some of the newest additions to Styx: Shards Of Darkness include a crafting system, where Styx will need to fashion tools and weapons to suit a variety of needs. Additionally, players will be able to distract and lure enemies into traps. As evidenced in the trailer, players will be able to use environmental effects to cause significant damage and create opportunities.
Styx: Shards Of Darkness is slated for launch in March, 2017.
