We check in with another one of our Supply Crate shipments. This one was sent overseas to a soldier stationed in Afghanistan who was looking to help his unit out. Read on and take a look at the full request!
Hey, I’m SGT Alexis S., the infantry mortar section sergeant at our current location. I’ve been in the army 5 years as of APR 23rd and this is my third deployment to Afghanistan and sadly one of my least supplied. We are on a small base attached to a special operations unit to assist in base defense operations and on missions to rid the last elements of ISIS out of Afghanistan. That’s about all the information I can disclose but we are currently working long hours and there is little to nothing to do on time off besides going to the gym.
Our small group has a Nintendo and two games, Diablo and Mario Kart. Though fun, I’d like to raise morale and get them a better system with some games to allow my soldiers fun and competitiveness on their downtime, and also when we rip with the next unit allow them to keep the system and games for their tour. Anything would be appreciative as many of my soldiers do not even have internet due to the price being 150 dollars for internet that can barely stream Netflix or use Facebook. Our base also does not have a functioning MWR (Morale, Welfare, and Recreation) so most soldiers reside in their hooches on time off.
I reside in the mortar pit with three soldiers in a few connexs made into bedrooms so we can be ready to fire at all times but I plan on putting anything given in the common area of the “platoon building” where we have a TV and the Nintendo 64 setup. My soldiers work their asses off on week long missions long guard and general base defense operations. Out here in the middle of Afghanistan on such a small base, I know they make great candidates for some morale boosting.
Thank you for everything you do for service members and vets, coming from a super nerd who decompresses with his army buddies over video games back in the states I think what you do is awesome! I’m currently heartbroken that I won’t be home for the release of Destiny 2 but as long as we make it home safe ill have plenty of time to catch up!
— Sincerely, SGT Alexis S.
We love it when we receive Supply Crate requests like this. It really speaks to the spirit of our service members that when submitting a request the thought is not for themselves but for their fellow soldiers!
How could we say no?
We were more than happy to upgrade that Nintendo 64 into something more modern. Thanks to amazing supporters like Call To Arms streamer Khaljiit, we loaded up a Supply Crate full of the latest and greatest in gaming and tossed in a few of our tan Stack Up shirts to be sent downrange to Alexis.
Once the crate arrived, Alexis was awesome enough to send us back this amazing photo and some words of thanks.
To whom it may concern,
We appreciate it so much what you guys do, and shout out to “Khaljiit” for her donation! We really needed this care package, we happen to be at an outstation here in Afghanistan that is away from MWR type facilities. So this donation has been what the guys needed.
The picture shows some of the guys within our 30 man Platoon. Again thank you guys so much for everything you do. God Bless!
Very Respectfully
Thanks again Alexis for your request. Thank you for your service, and your dedication to your fellow soldiers. We hope the new console and games go a long way to improving morale!
If you’d like to make a donation that gets sent over to our troops as a Supply Crate, Stack-Up takes lightly used PS4, and Xbox One games and gear as well as cash donations. Please help us help these vets out here:
