Army Veteran Daniel reached out to us for a Supply Crate because he's been through some stuff ever since his service, including self-harm.
Currently I am a disabled veteran who served in Afghanistan from 2009-2010. I was the member of an infantry platoon in yaya khel Afghanistan. I conducted patrols and was almost killed twice by an rpg which luckily I was thrown under a barrier and while pulling an outer cordon after an ied strike I was almost shot in the head by incoming rounds. I deal with ptsd and was arrested in 2011 prior to starting treatment at the VA. I started taking Xanax and slicing my arms with knives. Ended up in jail and then a medical treatment facility in saint Simons ga. I have difficulty holding jobs and this especially makes my college education a waste because my ability to teach is effected by my ptsd. My latest hospitalization was last year when I cut my arm open with a knife because I was feeling pressure at work. I was in Afghanistan for the bowe bergdhal deserter situation. It’s been a rough experience coming back and i still deal with it today.
We're very sorry to hear about Daniel's struggles, but we're glad he is still with us. If even the least we can do to help him cope with his mental health is offer up a game console so he can escape to virtual worlds when he's having a bad day, we're glad we can help in our way.
Thank you so much
Enjoy the console, Daniel. If you're ever feeling bad, come to our Discord and chat anytime.
