Supply Crate – Ievgen

Writer: Stack UpStack Up

Ievgen requested a Supply Crate so that he could bring together enlisted sailors for some gaming at a command where they're feeling a bit outmanned by their command.

Hello Stack Up! I am Petty Officer First Class Ievgen, and I have recently reported to NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support Philadelphia following over five years at sea. NAVSUP WSS is a peculiar command within the Navy, due consisting primarily of commissioned officers and DoD civilian employees. Enlisted population is no more than a dozen people, and not everyone interests with one another as most of us work in separate departments within the command. Sometimes we only see some of our fellow enlisted Sailors only once a week when all enlisted gather for quarters. The command's officers seek ways to include the enlisted in some activities to a limited success. There is a certain reluctance and caution among enlisted Sailors, finding themselves at a top-heavy command. It could be particularly hard for the most junior enlisted, who are used to a different environment and command structure. One in particular has recently reported after several years of being on a forward deployed ship in Japan. Since reporting to NAVSUP WSS, I have been looking for ways to increase enlisted interactions with one another: we are now starting up various sport and physical activities before the start of the work day, and I regularly advertise events and activities in the Philly area. Additionally, because Naval Support Activity Philadelphia, where NAVSUP WSS is a tenant command, is so small compared to bases hosting operational units and more people, MWR presence is limited and no recreation center is available. I believe that having a console with some games, along with some tabletops available in the designated enlisted break room could be a way to gather people during lunch breaks, build comradery, and pave the way for more joint activities and increased morale. Any support would be greatly appreciated!

If there's one thing we know the power of gaming can do, it's bring people together to build some camaraderie. Sounds like Ievgen and the rest of his command could do with some multiplayer game nights.

Good morning Ian,
Thank you for the codes! As promised, here are the photos. Everyone was very excited about the package. Thank you for what you do!
Best regards,
Ievgen

You are very welcome, Ievgen.
