Supply Crate – Jakob

Jakob reached out to us and requested a Supply Crate after being medically retired due to his PTSD. He's been having a tough time and finds comfort in video games.

Hi, I’m Jakob. I was medically retired last year and my life has been a living hell. I’ve been suffering with PTSD and everyday I feel closer and closer to just giving up. I’ve don’t things I’m not proud of. Seen things I can’t unsee and to top it all off I’m being sued for trying to survive. I’m barely struggling to put things on the table let alone be able to relax at all. I’m constantly anxious and have fits to where I cry out of no where. I am being treated but it’s been especially hard. The best way to combat my PTSD is video games. I know it’ sounds stupid but when I play video game I feel like life is a little easier and I’m able to focus on objectives and quests then the outside world. I also connect with my kids this way as they love video games just as much as I do. We use to play together when I was on deployment but the console had broken and we just don’t have the money to purchase a console let alone games because we are worried about food, and bills. I want to do this for me but also for my kids so I can connect with them as I feel I’m distancing my self from them because of my PTSD. I’m working on it but it would be nice to have something that we can bond over. Thank you for your time and consideration. Jakob

If we can take one worry away and offer comfort to a Veteran, we are more than happy to help. In Jakob's case, he shouldn't have to feel guilty about wanting to buy a console when there are bills to be paid. Sending out a brand new up-to-date video game console is the least we can do.

Ian,
I’m sorry for the late response. You have no idea how much this means to our family. My PTSD often prevents me from connecting with the kids. Video games are a way for me to connect with the kids when I have a hard time expressing myself and my feelings and allows myself and the kids coping skills through my stressors as well as theirs. The whole family is a bunch of gamers. From my wife with the Sims and the kids with Minecraft and Roblox. This gave us a bit of hope while it’s been incredibly hard. I’ve been struggling to make money for food so we have had no money for fun. I want to say thank you to StackUp and Thank you to the streamer. It means the world to my family.
Jakob

Thanks, Jakob, and we really hope you get all the gaming you can in with your family.

The amazing PerkyDaisy sponsored Jakob's Supply Crate. She's one of our Influencer Relations Team Managers and is very much responsible for so much of Stack Up's success in fundraising. She has not only served in the Military, but is a streamer, IRT Manager, and is quite the entrepreneur along with a long list of other things. Yes, she has a Twitch channel.

Every dollar counts when fundraising for Stack Up. Even if you think you could only raise $50 for us, that $50 goes straight to our mission. However, we've seen people with only a handful of viewers and followers fundraise 10x more than they believed possible. You never know until you try.
