Joe is part of a deployed unit and he requested a Supply Crate to help them regain some morale.
We are a helicopter maintenance sustainment unit deployed to assist in keeping aircraft in the Middle East flyable. We came with the intent of working closely with theatre aviation units to assist in maintenance operations and give critical advice and hands on assistance for quick turnarounds and get helicopters back on mission. We arrived in country and fell in under a large active duty unit that basically wants to do everything themselves and have nothing to with a national guard unit from MS. Now we have 10 very highly skilled aircraft mechanics who are basically out of work and doing odds and ends around post to try to stay engaged in something. Gaming is a big part of todays military and would be a good way for some of these guys to take their minds off the boredom and monotonous routines that they are struggling with daily here.
Being sent out for a job only not to be able to do that job would feel very disheartening, especially when one left home behind to do so. Our troops sign up to serve and whether working or in the off hours, they need plenty to do and stay busy. In their off hours, being able to play games is really helpful because it can be done just about anywhere and set up easily with just some electricity and internet.
We thank you so very much for your generous donation. I promise you that everything will get plenty of use and keep our guys in good spirits while we’re deployed.
