Before we get into today's Supply Crate update, we would like to thank everyone who has been fundraising for the Call to Arms. More than $200k has been raised this year.
Now back to the update. Today's update came from Joshua, a Veteran of the US Army and CT National Guard.
Dear Stack Up, Thank you for the opportunity to share my story and explain why I make a strong candidate for a Supply Crate. As a veteran with eight years of service in the US Army and CT National Guard, gaming has played a profound role in my life, especially during and after my deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. Gaming served as a vital coping mechanism for myself and my fellow service-members during our time in combat. It provided a much-needed escape from the stresses and challenges we faced on a daily basis. Even after returning home, gaming continued to be a powerful tool in helping me manage the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). As a father of young children, however, I had to prioritize my family's needs and couldn't afford to keep up with the ever-evolving world of gaming. This is where a Supply Crate from Stack Up would make an enormous impact on my life. It would allow me to reconnect with the hobby that provided solace and relief during the toughest times of my military service. Not only would a Supply Crate provide me with access to video games and systems, but it would also rekindle my connections with my fellow veterans. Gaming has always been a powerful medium for fostering camaraderie and friendship, and I believe it could help me establish new bonds within the veteran community. It would offer me a platform to reconnect with old comrades, share experiences, and support one another through our collective journeys. Furthermore, as you are well aware the therapeutic benefits of gaming cannot be understated. Playing video games has proven to be an effective way for me to manage my PTSD symptoms and find moments of peace and relaxation. A Supply Crate would offer me a tangible means of self-care and a channel for personal growth. In addition to my personal journey, I have actively engaged with various veterans' organizations and community activities. I was a dedicated volunteer with the IAVA, where I also created a local chapter in Connecticut. Additionally, I contributed my time to the Travis Manion Foundation, assisted in improving the CT Veterans Memorial, and was a founding member of the CT Veterans Boxing Club. These experiences have instilled in me a deep commitment to supporting and uplifting my fellow veterans. By selecting me for a Supply Crate, you would not only be supporting an individual veteran but also empowering someone who actively strives to make a difference in the veteran community. I am grateful for the opportunity to be considered, and I firmly believe that a Supply Crate from Stack Up would significantly impact my life, providing me with a renewed sense of joy, connection, and well-being. Thank you for your consideration, and I eagerly await the possibility of receiving a Supply Crate that will enhance my life. Sincerely, Josh
Everything Josh listed is exactly why we send out Supply Crates. We hope that a console can help our Vets who may be struggling with PTSD by allowing them an escape from their distressing thoughts, connect with other Veterans who have been through similar experiences, and just have fun boosting their morale. We sent Josh a new Xbox Series X and he eventually sent us a reply:
Ian
