Army Veteran Remy requested a Supply Crate so he and his son could game together and he could deal with the daily grind of living with PTSD with some gaming.
I'm a former Army E-5 with a combat tour in Iraq. I've had the privilege of serving this country in many capacities to include being a military child, a combat veteran, and a Gold Star Spouse. I have served honorably at various military installations such as Vilseck, Germany, FOB WarHorse, FOB Normandy, Fort Carson, and Fort Bliss. After my time in the service concluded due to injuries, I started my journey of transitioning to the civilian life in 2008, during which I embarked on a journey of personal and professional growth. My commitment to continuous learning has led me to pursue higher education at various colleges and universities, resulting in the completion of a Bachelor's degree in Digital Cinematography and nearing the achievement of two Associate degrees. My life has been marked by both personal and professional challenges. After returning to civilian life, I supported my wife's decision to join the Army, attend airborne school, and become a linguist. Although, she missed the ASVAB cut off for linguist by 1 point, she eventually went on to train and use skills in the pashto language to help local villagers during her deployment. Tragically, my wife tragically lost her life in Afghanistan while on her way to the MWR on our 5th year anniversary. This adversity has made me even more resilient and driven to succeed in my life while honoring not only her memory, but the memory of all those we have lost. Receiving a Supply Crate from Stack Up would significantly impact me and my son. As a single parent, it is hard for me to financially afford nice electronics and games for me and my son. It would provide us with the opportunity to enjoy recreational activities that promoted not only bonding with him, but healing and distraction from the daily grind of PTSD, depression, and anxiety. Today, I help with my son's local boy troop to include planning and helping during camping trips, teaching classes, and discussing my military career as part of one of their badge requirements. I am also in the works of creating my own professional recording studio where I will host podcasts with combat veterans, spouses, and family members as a means to help not only raise awareness about PTSD and the effects it has on not just a veteran, but all the loved ones around them, but to catalog the stories of their life and the experiences they endured. In conclusion, my military background, educational achievements, and personal resilience make me a strong candidate for Stack Up's Supply Crate program. The support and opportunities it offers would not only benefit me but also contribute to the well-being and growth of my family. Thank you for considering my application and all that you do in order to help service members, veterans, and their families
We thank Remy for sharing his story with us. He's faced many great challenges and he continues to do his best to succeed and raise his son. We couldn't be prouder of being able to help him with a new game console. If it can help him and his son have a great time together while aiding his mental health, then we are doing what we set out to.
Remy sent us a great response to receiving his Supply Crate:
I hope this email finds you well.
First and foremost, please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in sending this message. The last few days have been quite a whirlwind for me after receiving the wonderful news that my dog has been accepted to be trained as a service dog.
I wanted to take a moment to express my sincerest and heartfelt thanks to you and the entire team at Stack Up Supply Crate for the incredibly generous gift. I am truly blown away by your kindness and the impact of your organization's mission.
The Xbox, Pandemic board game, and accessories you provided are absolutely fantastic, and I am thrilled to have received them. Your thoughtful gift will not only be enjoyed but also cherished by me and my family. I cannot thank you enough for your generosity and for brightening our days with such wonderful items.
I also want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to HyruleReaper for being my sponsor and making this gift possible through his contributions. His support has meant the world to me, and I am deeply grateful for his generosity.
Growing up, video games served as a refuge for me during challenging times. From playing on the NES, Super NES, and Gameboy to today's Xbox consoles, gaming has been a constant source of joy and comfort. Now, having the opportunity to share my childhood love of gaming with my son is truly special, and I am grateful for the chance to create new memories together.
I would like to ask if it would be acceptable for me to reach out to HyruleReaper personally to express my gratitude, or if this is something that is frowned upon by the company. I want to ensure that I respect any guidelines or preferences in this regard. Once again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your thoughtful gift and for the incredible work that Stack Up Supply Crate does.
Your organization's dedication to supporting veterans like myself is truly remarkable, and I am deeply grateful for your commitment to making a difference in our lives.
With warmest regards,
Remy
It's always acceptable to directly reach out to the sponsors of Supply Crates to thank them for their support. They love getting a direct contact.
As Remy mentioned above, HyruleReaper sponsored his gaming care package. HyruleReaper is also a father who enjoys gaming and he fundraised with his community to sponsor this Supply Crate. Check out HyruleReaper on Twitch.

Incredibly moved by Remy's story; multiplayer games can be a powerful tool for healing and bonding, especially for veterans and their families.
