Deployments aren't just hard for individual Veterans but also for their families. In today's Supply Crate update, Roberto mentioned in his request that he's missed out on some time with his children because of deployments:
I have been an avid gamer for a long time but with multiple deployments I never really had a chance to game with my children like we wanted to. My children are 6 & 8 now and I’ve been gone for half of their lives including missing my sons birth because of being overseas. When we can we like to play games all of us can join together like Minecraft and just dance. My spouse tries to help but she’s not really a gamer and doesn’t know what they do and do not like. I’ve been in the military for 17 years and I have 3 more years left and hopefully no more deployments but with our mission set it’s more than likely as the Battalion Master Gunner I’ll be heading out to various locations to work with the firing batteries as it’s my job. So being able to game when I can and with my kids whenever times available is what we look forward to most.
It's pretty difficult knowing that you're losing time with your children. Video games can be a great way to connect, whether that's at home or online, in multiplayer gaming. We sent Roberto a console to enjoy with his family. Hopefully, it can offer comfort and joy when they're together.
First off thank you for the appreciation my family and myself had the opportunity to receive. Kids are already been playing the switch for hours since they opened it. The card game will have to wait since they are only 6 & 8 and are still learning reading so it’ll be some time before we open that one. Thanks for everything!
Hey, you never know; you might just have a budding tabletop gamer one day.
