We are happy to bring you some intel on our latest Supply Crate shipment. This request comes to us from Layne, a member of the Air Force, who is stationed in Iraq.
I’ve been serving for 19 years in the military and now I am again deployed to Iraq. This time I am with the 727 Expeditionary Air Control Squadron at Detachment 5. We provide battlespace management for leadership across the entire theater of operations. Linking radar, radio and tactical control from leadership to the warfighter.
This results in high-stress environments since our equipment is critical in this communications chain. Anything that can be done to relax and unwind is greatly appreciated and only helps morale.
It is the job of the 727 Expeditionary Air Control Squadron, also known as Kingpin, to monitor and control aircraft and forces in the battlespace. This LINK does a great job of explaining the overall mission.
Of course, this is a 24/7 mission and as Layne mentions very demanding and high stress. We have all heard tales of the stress of civilian Air Traffic Controllers, and one can only imagine the difficult time of performing similar duties in foreign territory, coordinating and accounting not only for our own aircraft and ground units but also those of our allies and enemies.
We were more than happy to go to work putting together an awesome Supply Crate to be sent downrange to Detachment 5. Gaming can be an amazing way to help relax and wind the day down after hours of operating under duress and at peak capacity. Thanks to the help from dedicated supporters, like the folks at Ardent Gaming, we were able to pack some of the best gaming goodies we could into the Supply Crate and sent it off to Layne. When it was received we got these words of thanks and a fantastic picture!
Just wanted to drop a note from the night shift guys here at Det 5 saying thank you to Ardent Gaming and Stack-Up for the crate of games and Xbox one that was sent to us today!
Thank you, Layne, for the hard work, and dedication that you and your fellow airmen show to your job. We here at Stack-Up hope the games help you relieve some stress and provide some enjoyment!
If you’d like to make a donation that gets sent over to our troops as a Supply Crate, Stack-Up takes lightly used PS4, and Xbox One games and gear as well as cash donations. Please help us help these vets out here:
