Dave joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 2003 and was medically retired in 2014. In January of 2013, Dave was critically injured while conducting Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) operations in Cambodia, resulting in the loss of his left hand and left eye.
During his two years of recovery at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Dave leaned heavily into video games as a way to assist with his occupational therapy and mental health. He decided to pursue a future in helping other veterans find the same relief that he found in gaming, and met Stack Up Founder Stephen Machuga not long after.
Since retiring from active duty, Dave has focused his efforts on supporting fellow veterans. Dave served as a volunteer with Stack Up from its launch in November of 2015 until January of 2017 when he was brought on full-time as Director of Veteran Services.
