Holloman AFB Stacks Up with a Game Night
by: Daniel McArdle
The Holloman AFB chapter of The Stacks, located in sunny Alamogordo, New Mexico held its first community event this weekend (Nov 17th) at Pizza Mill. Not only does this establishment have some of the best pizza in town it is also the home of one of the only arcades you will find for about 100 miles. The management here were super friendly and even helped us out a bit with promoting this event. We hope to continue to build relationships with local businesses as we continue to host events locally.
We kicked off the night with some pizzas and had some conversation about Stack Up. We discussed some unfortunate statistics regarding veteran suicides and how prevalent these issues are even here in New Mexico. Kind of a bummer to start out with but then we got to talk about how Stack Up as a whole is working to help combat these issues through its four pillars. The supply crates, air assaults, StOP program and of course local stacks. We talked about the aims of our local stack and pitched some possibilities for future events.
Overall, everyone had a pretty good time. We had approximately 10 people come out for this event including a few kids. So not quite a packed house but were spreading the word and growing our community. People really seemed to like the goodies we brought to giveaway. Bonded a bit over our love of gaming and crushed a few high scores. If anyone is interested in the Stack Up keychains please feel to reach out.
