Friends of Cunningham Park – Movie Night with The Stacks
by Ethan Whinston
The Queens chapter of The Stacks seems to have an unofficial mascot in the form of a blind and deaf cat. Stack member, Sharon Whinston’s cat, Cream, can’t see or hear but he enjoys hanging out with the stack at events and getting petted by various passersby.
As such, he serves as a great icebreaker, giving people a chance to talk about Stack-Up. As the Stack spent its evening in Cunningham Park watching Zootopia, many people came over to talk.
As always, the Stack was giving out swag in exchange for pushups, situps, and selfies, and Cream brought people in to try it. Eventually, the action died down and the crowd watched the movie, an animated take on the relationship between predators and prey.
This was the last event of the year for the Friends of Cunningham Park, a not-for-profit that sponsors movies, concerts, and plays in the park, as well as other events.
