The Stacks – Shreveport Stacks Up for Airsoft
by: Brandon Buckalew
The Northwest Louisiana chapter of The Stacks held a casual game day at Cajun Airsoft in Bossier City. Veterans, civilians, friends, and family came out to have a day of friendly competition with the guys are Cajun Airsoft. Bill and Will showed our people a great time. Veteran owned and operated, the field offered us free reign for the day.
President escort, bombing run, and close quarters battle were just a few of the simulation events played. The field staff was also very accommodating to the needs of vets with PTSD.
New members had an opportunity to find out what Stack Up is all about. A quick Q&A between matches allowed people to find out all they could about the organization’s many programs. Players showed a particular interest in the mental health aspects of how gaming and hobby activities can positively impact treatment and recovery. The DAV, American Legion, and VFW had representation as well.
Even rain did not stop the fun. Though muddy and messy, players enjoyed themselves and the bonding experience. We were joined by a Vietnam era veteran who said “You are never too old to have fun.
More people should embrace having an outlet like gaming, whether its physical like this or video gaming.” Making a difference one event at a time is what Stack Up is about. The Shreveport Stack left a lasting impression on the local community.
