On 3/2/2018 at 1900 hours until 2230 hours, the Sonoma County chapter of The Stacks and the Rohnert Park Veteran Center held our monthly LAN Zone event. We ordered pizza and set up all the consoles. We were most excited to play PUBG, however, due to a large update that came out that day, the consoles were not up to date and we took turns on the one Xbox that had the latest update.
On his first run through, Sonoma County Stack Lead Anthony played a solo round and despite being interrupted to sign for the pizza, he managed to fight his way to a delicious Chicken Dinner! We began to rotate through solo matches attempting to score that infamous chicken dinner, only to be thwarted by a glitch that renders Juan stuck in a wall. He fought bravely as he had no ability to move or duck to avoid the barrage of bullets of each enemy that discovered him. He did pick off a few of them before the play zone closed in around him.
There would be no further chicken dinners and the chase will again resume next month at the April LAN Zone event where all consoles with PUBG will be updated that day to ensure we are able to run squads together.
We played an Xbox OG classic as well. Fusion Frenzy. Many of us remembered how much we loved playing this game and how many hours were spent playing on it. One person recalled that it was the second most played game for them on the OG Xbox, second only to Halo!
It was a great night and despite the lower than usual turnout, we will persist. These events have been going on for over a year and we have seen what we can and have accomplished in serving our local veteran community.
